Application for recognition

A prerequisite for the recognition of the previously taken examinations at the previous university is a high degree of correspondence between the examinations already taken and the respective suitable examinations of the subject at HHU. The correspondence must be given in content, scope (semester hours per week) and demand.

You will find the recommended study plan for the Business Administration and Economics programs in the appendix of the examination regulations. A comparison of the courses you have taken with the courses of our faculty (cf. module handbooks) will enable you to assess your chances of recognition in advance.

Process:

The following documents are required (in original) for the placement exam:

• Application for recongnition (Anerkennung)
• Information on the course content covered and the workload (module description).
• Proof of the examination achievements (certified copy of the Transcript of Records or a signed and stamped performance overview or a signed and stamped performance overview or copy with presentation of the original). Failed attempts and the remaining examination entitlement must be shown on the performance overview.
• If the university is foreign and the original documents are not in English or German, a certified German or English translation is required.

Important:

• Please do not submit your application to us until you can provide all the necessary documents.
• If you are not yet enrolled, you must first submit a placement application. In case of a positive placement decision, the application for a higher semester will be made at the Student and Examination Administration. Only after successful placement and after acceptance and admission can you submit an application for recognition in order to have your previous achievements credited.
• Alternatively, you can apply for a place in the first semester and - after acceptance and admission - also apply for recognition of individual achievements in the first semester.
• The application for recognition must be made in the semester in which studies in this degree program at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf begin. If an examination has already been taken in this degree program at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in a module for which credit has been applied for, an application for recognition is excluded.
